About Mississippi

Mississippi is named for the Mississippi river which forms its western boundary and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The name roughly translated from Native American folklore means "Father of Waters." The translation comes from the Chippewa words "mici zibi" meaning "great river" or "gathering in of all the waters" and the Algonquin word "Messipi".Mississippi was organized as a territory in 1798 and was admitted as the 20th state to join the Union on December 10, 1817. Jackson is the capital city and the largest Metropolitan area.

New to Blogging!!

This is my first entry in our "Flat Stanley" Blog. Thanks to Heatherlynn for all of her work in getting this together for us. I pray that this adventure is a wonderful Christian gathering for our beautiful children.

Oh, I suppose I can intoduce my children that will be participating in this online endevor. Elizabeth is 9 and in the 4th grade. Anthony is 7 and in the second grade. This is their first year to be homeschooled and they are LOVING it!!!!

Elizabeth is participating in the homeschooling choir!!! The kids are going to be doing a play about Joshua and the Big Wall. Elizabeth is trying out for the part of Ester and also the part of Mary!!! She is also learning some wonderful songs!!!

Anthony is in his second year of being a cub scout. He is now a Wolf. The den is working on going to the Vetrans Home this weekend and entertaining the residents there. There is also talk of "adopting a grandparent" for Christmas!!! I think it will be a wonderful event for the young and the old.

Well enough for tonight. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow. If not, then for sure this coming weekend. God bless each and everyone of you that reads this.

Blessings,

Sarah
